"The Rat" -The Walkmen

Phant came to me about a month and a half ago and told me that this song was unbelievable. I had heard if faintly from my computer speakers while listening to KEXP at work. I believe Phant said it was the best song that had been released in 2004 up until then. I wholeheartedly agree with that claim. I don't know what it is about the song that makes it so amazing. The elements that stick out to me are the soaring guitar strummed at one hundred miles an hour, the military drumming that reminds me of "Sunday Bloody Sunday", and the amazing vocals that come out of Hamilton's throat. Whatever it is, it has been stuck in my head daily, at least a bit, since I first heard it. It is stuck in my head again today. My question to all y'all is:

Is there a better song released so far this year?

P.S. Thanks to all who wished Bri-ness and I a happy engagement. It has definitly been wonderful and I expect it to continue that way through the hitching process...
